High in antioxidants, rich in color and flavor, these Canadian berries exhilarate smoothies, yogurt pairings and artful desserts.

A tasty pleasure found in Western Canada!

These purplish-blue berries were enjoyed by the Aboriginal peoples of Western Canada for hundreds of years. As a dietary staple, the berries were eaten fresh or dried like raisins or steamed and mashed to be then dried for use throughout the year. Aboriginal peoples knew of the powerful nutritional and medicinal properties of these berries and today researchers are confirming these attributes to be true.

Colorful, flavorful, versatile and nutritious are the words that best describe the Saskatoon berries. The composition of the Saskatoon berries is often compared to that of the blueberries. The Saskatoon Berries however, have nutritional properties that are significantly higher in protein, fat, fibre, calcium, magnesium, manganese, barium, and aluminum than the blueberries and are lower in phosphorus and sulfur. Saskatoon berries are also a source of vitamins A and C.
